June 27, 201313 yr I have no suggestions Wayne, but I do have comments, that is a really good job with the first turning! I hope my own efforts when the time comes turn out as nice as that! You have alot going there, not only the stand itself, but the plate as well, and I love the handle, really nice man. I'd like to ask you, what did you turn it with, and and what tools did you use? And, how would you like to try out the Easy Wood Tools Mini's? We need another place to ship em for a tester to give em a drive. You game? Thanks for sharing Wayne John Morris The Patriot Woodworker /forums/uploads/ning-image001-12012-65.jpg">
June 27, 201313 yr Wow, Wayne! That is spectacular! Is the candle stick and base one piece? The little finger tab is really cool, too! Lew Kauffman- Wood Turners Forum Host Time Traveler and Purveyor of the Universe's Finest Custom Rolling Pins!

June 28, 201313 yr Author Thanks for the kind words. I will say it is a lot of fun, yet a learning curve. Lew, the base and stick are separate, Lew  There is 3 pieces total, and the handle was done on my scroll saw, what else . Ron, I really love my scroll saw. And now that I dabbling with the lathe, it is really cool. I still have a lot to learn and am enjoying it a lot. John: The tools, a roughing gouge to go from square to a cylinder. After that Most of it was done with a fingernail gouge and a scraper. Wayne Mahler God bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.
June 28, 201313 yr My first turning didn't look anything like that or that good. As a matter of fact it was used for firewood. Awesome job Wayne.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
